It is important to always be sure to rinse dentures after eating any meal or snack. If you drink thick or dark fluids such as coffee, wine or a smoothie, it is also recommended to rinse. After the dentures are removed from the mouth, you should always thoroughly rinse and brush your natural teeth as well. Although the dentures cover the natural enamel, there are still food particles and bacteria which can get stuck to the surface.
When it comes to daily maintenance, it is important to brush the dentures daily. This should be done thoroughly using a soft bristled toothbrush and specialized products, including denture cleaning solution. If you utilize adhesive on your dentures, the areas which make contact with your mouth and gums must be meticulously cleaned as well.
In order to care for dentures, it is important to be armed with the proper tools. Any hard bristled tooth-brushed should be avoided. Additionally, whitening toothpastes should not be used. Any dental hygiene products which contain bleach should not be used on the dentures or on the surrounding teeth with the partials. Lastly, hot and boiling water should not be consumed or placed too close to the dentures, as this can cause them to change their form.
